Huebound
Note: This game is now available on Steam! This version will act as a demo of sorts. It's fully playable, but will no longer receive updates.
Huebound
Mix light. Discover color.
Start with three primary colors. Mix them. Mix the results. Keep going until you've uncovered all 256 named colors hiding in the palette — from Amber to Zenith, from Cobalt to Dragonfruit.
Huebound is a factory game where your production line is a color lab. Place nodes, wire them together, and watch glowing orbs flow through your network. Every combination produces a specific color, and every color has exactly one recipe. Figuring out what makes what is half the fun.
Note: This game was built with AI assistance and is a work in progress. Your feedback directly shapes the next update — please let me know how it can improve!
How It Works
Sources generate colored orbs. Combiners take two inputs and produce a new color. Splitters fork your pipeline. Sellers turn orbs into Light — your currency for buying more nodes and unlocking new ones.
Rarer colors are worth more. A Tier 5 color like Nebula or Tiger Eye sells for 1,000x what a basic Blue does. The challenge is building the right chain of mixers to reach it.
The Loop
- 256 colors across 6 tiers of rarity, each with a unique recipe to discover
- Prestige system — reset your factory but keep a discovered color as a permanent starting source, making each run faster
- Discovery bonuses — the first time you sell a new color, you get a big payout
- Escalating costs — every node you place makes the next one more expensive, so layout and efficiency matter
- Shop upgrades — production speed, transfer speed, buffer size, sell value, and more
Details
- Node placement is strategic — shorter connections mean faster orb delivery
- Every sound is procedurally generated from waveforms — no samples or art assets in the entire game
- Colorblind mode available (Protanopia, Deuteranopia, Tritanopia)
- Auto-saves between sessions
Controls
- Left-click — Place, select, drag
- Right-click — Node info / cancel / pan camera
- Scroll — Zoom
- Escape — Cancel / deselect
Built in Godot 4 with AI assistance. Code-only, no assets. Feedback drives development.

It was an enjoyable game, feels a lot like Shapez and Shapez 2. There's certainly potential there.
It would be nice to copy/paste, or to hold shift to place multiple of the same object.
Adding more "goals" or "checkpoints" would also make the game a bit more satisfying to play in the longer run.
The Spectrum Reset also isn't very obvious when you unlock it; I was about to quit the game before I even noticed it.
New patch: more settings, income and upkeep displays, node panel rework, some more debug options for
cheatingtesting, and some bug fixes.https://danhicks853.itch.io/huebound/devlog/1407593/settings-overhaul-ui-polish
Game breaking bug: The buttons get out of screen as they are added, please add scroll bars or zoom
Thanks, a fix will be pushed in the next patch.
Fixed this just now! Thank you for the feedback!

New Patch, Prestige Mode!
https://danhicks853.itch.io/huebound/devlog/1404296/every-color-tells-a-story
Bug with prestige mode: I got my colors done until I reached the first prestige. Chose sky blue as my prestige color.
Then I bought with sky blue, saw it was 45 too late and couldn't buy the blue + sell. So, I decided to load.
Money is at 50, but cannot buy any color nodes or sell. I can buy red from the shop for 10$, but can't buy any nodes.
Tried refreshing, loading, save and quit then reload... Nothing works.
Thanks, I'll get that fixed in the next patch. Probably going to adjust all starting node prices to be the same as blue.
Probably a better way to balance it is that once you prestige, you have a default blue and seller already linked? Since it's pretty much starter money basically.
ugh, another emoji ridden AI generated slop
yes, but he's MY emoji ridden AI generated slop, and I love him.
Most of your feedback has been implemented and is now live! Check out the patch notes:

It's extremely small!
haha
also it's fixed now, thanks
Also some planned changes:
Tinnitus coming in clutch. Didn't know about the droning noise.
Fixed!
You can review the patch notes here: https://danhicks853.itch.io/huebound/devlog/1399453/the-please-stop-the-humming-update
The droning noise was annoying so I tried deactivating it via menu, and it told me that the progress will be saved, but there was no volume sliders and when I got back into the game all nodes were deleted and I was too poor to buy new ones.
Fixed!

Nice
the idea is really cool. i was quite excieted mixing red and bllue to purple. but then i had to wait and it got boring rather quickly. not sure if my sound is broken, but i just hear one constant humming.
Fixed that humming noise!

I'm still actively working on balance, but I did add a game speed slider to settings for testing, feel free to check it out!
It would be nice to be able to see information about colors in the collection, both their value and recipe.
This was added based on your recommendation!

Is there any way to close tutorial pop ups? I already did what the pop up told me but it won't go away.
same for me...softlock by tutorial blocking my ability to click
Fixed! The tutorial won't be as annoying moving forward.

The tutorial has been reworked to be far less intrusive. Check out the patch notes: https://danhicks853.itch.io/huebound/devlog/1399453/the-please-stop-the-humming-...
This is a first release, I know there's some bugs, but I'm looking for feedback, especially on progression and balance.
Next features planned are more nodes and a prestige system, if I ever figure out what that actually looks like.
